CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia women’s tennis team suffered its second loss of the season, falling to No. 15 William & Mary 7-0 Wednesday at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club.

The Tribe (3-1) took the early lead by sweeping the three doubles matches. Megan Moulton-Levy and Katarina Zoricic, last year’s NCAA doubles runner-up, defeated Maggie Yahner (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Lindsey Pereira (Arlington, Texas) at No. 1. Ragini Acharya and Klaudyna Kasztelaniec topped Jennifer Stevens (Miami, Fla.) and Amanda Rales (Bethesda, Md.) at No. 2 and Carmen Pop and Lauren Sabcinski defeated Hampton Williams (Raleigh, N.C.) and Lara Alexander (London, England) at No. 3 doubles.

In singles, William & Mary won all six matchups in straight sets. At the top three positions, Rales, Stevens, and Yahner lost to nationally ranked opponents, No. 12 Moulton-Levy, No. 83 Zoricic, and No. 55 Acharya respectively. In the lower half of the lineup, Kasztelaniec defeated Pereira at No. 4, Sabacinski topped Alexander at No. 5, and Pop downed Williams at No. 6.

The match was broadcast online by ACC Select and can be viewed on demand.

The Cavaliers (1-2) conclude their four-match season-opening homestand Friday as they host No. 50 Ohio State. Match time is 1 p.m. and admission is free.
