CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – David Adams (Jr., Margate, Fla.) swatted two home runs and drove in five runs, while Andrew Carraway (Jr., Marietta, Ga.) pitched six solid innings to propel the No. 17-ranked Virginia baseball team to a 12-1 win over Lehigh Sunday in game one of a doubleheader at Davenport Field.

Carraway put together a great start on the mound, going six innings while giving up just two hits. He struck out eight and did not walk a batter in earning the win. Lehigh starter Andrew Berger was saddled with the loss after giving up nine earned runs and six hits over 1.2 innings.

Phil Gosselin (Fr., West Chester, Pa.) went 3-for-4 for the Cavaliers, while Adams was 3-for-5 with three runs scored. Adams' two-homer performance was UVa's first since Mark Reynolds ripped two homers against Georgia Tech on March 12, 2004.

Virginia (3-0) used a two-out rally to score two runs in the opening inning. Adams drew a walk and David Coleman (Fr., Richmond, Va.) followed with a single. Jeremy Farrell (Jr., Westlake, Ohio) hit the next pitch up the right-center field gap for a two-run triple – his second triple in as many games after recording one his first two seasons.

The Cavaliers exploded for six runs while sending 10 batters to the plate in the second inning. Tyler Cannon (So., Pigeon Forge, Tenn.) started the scoring with a two-run single to plate Jarrett Parker (Fr., Stafford, Va.) and Corey Hunt (So., Charlottesville, Va.). Adams followed with an opposite-field, three-run home run to right field to give UVa a 7-0 lead. After Farrell was hit by a pitch, Berger was lifted for Mike Lebo, who surrendered a triple to Gosselin to score Farrell and give Virginia an 8-0 lead.

UVa tacked on three more runs in the fourth inning. After Cannon reached on an error to lead off, Adams slugged his second homer of the day, with this blast hitting off the facade of the bleachers in left-center field. The Cavaliers added another run on a Lehigh throwing error.

The Cavaliers scored their final run in the sixth inning when Will Campbell (Jr., Yorktown, Va.) walked with the bases loaded.

Lehigh (0-3) got a run in the seventh inning against UVa reliever Tyler Wilson (Fr., Midlothian, Va.) on a Danny Egly RBI single.
