CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia finished off a four-game sweep of Lehigh with a 6-1 win Sunday in the second game of a doubleheader at Davenport Field. The Cavaliers allowed just four runs in the series while outscoring the Mountain Hawks 27-4.

Tyler Cannon (So., Pigeon Forge, Tenn.) went 3-for-4 with two doubles for Virginia (4-0), while Dan Grovatt (Fr., Tabernacle, N.J.) went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI.

Virginia’s pitching once again was excellent, as Cavalier hurlers surrendered just one run for the fourth straight game in the series. Jeff Lorick (So., Duluth, Ga.), Robert Morey (Fr., Virginia Beach, Va.) and Neal Davis (So., Baltimore, Md.) combined to hold the Mountain Hawks to a run and seven hits.

Lorick earned the starting pitching nod for Virginia and went four-plus innings, giving up one earned run, seven hits and a walk while striking out one. After Lorick got into a fifth-inning jam, Morey relieved and then went three scoreless innings while striking out four to earn the win in his college debut. Kevin Mihalik (0-1) started for Lehigh and went 5.2 innings, giving up six runs (five earned), eight hits and two walks while striking out two.

Virginia took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on a Greg Miclat (Jr., Concord, N.C.) sacrifice fly to score Grovatt. The Cavaliers tacked on a run the following inning when Jeremy Farrell (Jr., Westlake, Ohio) singled to score David Adams (Jr., Margate, Fla.).

Lehigh (0-4) countered with a run of its own in the fifth inning on a Glenn Seitz RBI groundout and chase Lorick from the game.

UVa broke the game open with four runs in the sixth inning. Grovatt smacked a two-run double over the head of left fielder Danny Egly to score David Coleman (Fr., Richmond, Va.) and Farrell, and Jarrett Parker (Fr., Stafford, Va.) followed with a single to score Grovatt. After Parker stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch, he scored when Miclat singled to left field.

The Cavaliers continue their 10-game homestand at 4 p.m. Tuesday, playing host to Coppin State. Virginia then welcomes Old Dominion for a 4 p.m. game Wednesday.
