Pastore Signs with UVa Men’s Golf Team

Charlottesville, VA -- Virginia men's golf coach Bowen Sargent announced today junior golfer David Pastore (Greenwich, Conn.) has signed a national letter of intent to enroll at Virginia and play for the Cavaliers next fall. He is ranked as the No. 31 junior golfer for the class of 2010 in the American Junior Golf Association Polo Golf rankings and is No. 32 for his class in the Golfweek junior golf standings.

In July Pastore won his second Met Junior Championship in four years (also in 2006). It is the oldest Junior Golf Championship in the nation. His 2006 title made him the youngest competitor to ever claim the title. He was named to the Connecticut High School Coaches Association's all-state team in 2009.

 "We are pleased to welcome David Pastore to our program," said Sargent. "David comes to Virginia with a long history of successfully competing at the national level. I feel confident David can continue to build on the recent success of our program as he's a very dedicated, hard-working young man. To compliment David's athletic pursuits, he's interested in pursuing our nations best business degree via the McIntire school of Commerce. Our staff looks forward to working with David over the next four years to achieve athletic and academic success."

This year Pastore won the Connecticut Public Links Championships and was a quarterfinalist at the Connecticut Amateur tournament. He was the runner-up at the Metropolitan Golf Association Carter Cup Junior Stoke Play Championship. Pastore advanced to the second round of match play at the U.S. Junior Championships. He currently has seven top-10 finishes at AJGA tournaments, highlighted by a second-place effort at the 2009 Lessings Junior.
