FREEPORT, The Bahamas  - The 15th-ranked Virginia women's basketball team travels to the Junkanoo Jam in Freeport, Grand Bahama Island for two games on Thursday and Friday. First up for the Cavaliers is a 2:15 p.m. game on Thanksgiving vs. Indiana. The winner would face either Charlotte or South Dakota State on Friday. Games are being played at St. Georges High School.

The game will be broadcast over the airwaves on WINA 1070 in the Charlottesville area or on VirginiaSports.com through V Pass. A webcast is also available at www.JunkanooJam.com

Virginia is coming off a 77-63 loss to No. 6 Tennessee on Sunday, Nov. 22, in front of a record-setting crowd of 11,895. That attendance set a new single-game record at UVa, breaking the 22-year mark set in 1986 vs. North Carolina at University Hall (11,174).

Virginia (3-1) is led by Preseason ACC Player of the Year and All-American Monica Wright (Woodbridge, Va.), who is averaging 21.5 points per game through the Cavaliers' first four games. Against Tennessee, Wright had a game-high 21 points.

Chelsea Shine (Wayne, Pa.) had a career night in the Cavaliers' Wednesday (Nov. 18) night victory over USC Upstate, scoring 27 points and pulling down 11 boards, both career-highs for her first-ever double-double. Shine has started all four games in the post and is averaging 12.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.

In the frontcourt with Shine, reigning ACC Rookie of the Week Simone Egwu (Odenton, Md.) has been a strong inside presence and is averaging 10.8 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.

Indiana is 3-1 after dropping a 76-71 contest to Missouri on Sunday, Nov. 22. Jamie Braun leads the team by averaging 14.0 points per game, followed by Hope Elam with 13.8 ppg and Jori Davis with 12.0 ppg.

Virginia and Indiana have met once in women's basketball action - a 58-56 Cavalier win on Dec. 27, 1980 at the Queens Tournament in Flushing, N.Y.

In its second game at the Junkanoo Jam, Virginia will face either Charlotte or South Dakota State at either 5:45 or 8 p.m. on Friday.
