CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.
- The Virginia women's swimming and diving team was recognized as a Division I
Scholar All-American Team by the College Swimming Coaches Association (CSCAA)
as one of the top programs in the nation for academic achievement.
The Cavalier women were one of 112 squads in Division I to
earn the honor for achieving a 3.00 or higher grade point average for the 2009
fall semester.
"This adds to our run of having the women recognized every
semester the award has been given," UVa head coach Mark Bernardino said. "We
have never missed, for well over a decade. It really speaks to their desire to
compete and be as great as they can be, in and out of the pool. They are truly
student-athletes."
