CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia women’s tennis team concluded play Sunday at the third annual UVa Winter Invitational began at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. The Cavaliers won two doubles matches and one singles match on the final day.

The doubles team of Lindsey Pereira (Arlington, Texas) and Lara Alexander recorded a win in Flight B, topping Wake Forest’s Christian Tara and Emilee Malvehy, 8-5. In Flight C, the team of Jennifer Stevens (Miami, Fla.) and Hampton Williams (Raleigh, N.C.) scored an 8-4 win over Aileen Davis and Ana Jerman of Wake Forest.

In singles, Virginia got a win in Flight E as Stevens defeated Katarina Reveche of Wake Forest, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5. Amanda Rales (Bethesda, Md.) dropped her match in Flight A to Wake’s Sasha Kulikova, but ended the tournament in third place.

LSU’s Megan Falcon was the singles champion, after winning her singles match all three days. Kulikova finished second and Rales was third. The Purdue team of Brooke Beier and Cogdem Duru were the doubles champion.

The Cavaliers open the dual match season on Saturday as they host a doubleheader at the Boyd Tinsley Courts. Virginia hosts Marshall at 10 a.m. and Richmond at 4 p.m. Admission is free.
