Ben Rubeor accepts congratulations from Garrett Billings and Danny Glading after scoring his 100th career goal Tuesday night.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA—Virginia scored the game’s first four goals to take command early and gain a 24-5 victory over VMI in game played in a heavy rain at Klöckner Stadium. The win is Virginia’s 21st in a row without a loss under the lights at Klöckner.

With the win the third-ranked Cavaliers improve to 5-0 on the season; VMI falls to 1-4 overall.

Ben Rubeor scored a game-high four goals as 14 different Cavaliers entered the scoring column. His first goal at the 13:00 mark of the first quarter was the 100th of his career as he became only the 10th player in school history to reach 100.

Danny Glading finished with a career-high six assists, all in the first half.

Virginia built a 7-3 lead after one quarter of play and led 17-4 at halftime. Head coach Dom Starsia substituted liberally in the second half as all 37 players in uniform played.

Matt Harrison led the Keydets with three goals.

Virginia returns to action Saturday (March 8) at Princeton in a game scheduled to start at noon. The game will be televised on ESPN, the first regular-season men’s lacrosse game to air on the big network.
