Cavalier Golfers Finish Third at The Ridges

Jonesboro, TN - The 26th-ranked Virginia men's golf team used a solid final round Sunday to finish in third-place at the 15-team Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at The Ridges. The Cavaliers finished at 1-under 863, just two shots behind Tennessee and Oregon State, who tied for first at 861. The Cavaliers placed ahead of five other ACC schools in the tournament. UVa's third-place showing equaled it previous best finish at the event, recorded in 1999.

The Cavaliers shot 3-over 291 during the final round led by a 1-under 71 by senior Kyle Stough. He moved up to 11th place overall at 1-under 215.

Ben Kohles led the team in scoring for the fourth consecutive event. Kohles shot 1-over 73 Sunday to tie for fifth overall at 2-under 214. It was his fourth top-10 showing this fall.

Virginia's Amory Davis was 20th overall at 218, including a 77 over the final 18 holes. Bruce Woodall was 25th at 219 and Will Collins was 40th at 222.

Oregon State's Diego Velasquez ran away with medalist honors. He finished at 10-under 206 to win the stroke play by seven shots.

The Cavaliers will wrap up the fall portion of their schedule next weekend when they compete at the Bridgestone Invitational in Greensboro, N.C.
