Charlottesville, VA -- South Carolina won the 2009 Cavalier Classic when the second round was not completed due to a lighting delay that lasted 1:45. Play was halted at approximately 3:30 p.m. and would not have been able to be resumed until 5:15 p.m. Tournament officials concluded the teams remaining on the course would not be able to complete play before darkness and the second round was canceled. The final threesome had 12 holes remaining to finish when play was halted. Final results were based on Saturday’s first round of play.
South Carolina, ranked No. 13 in the latest Golfstat standings, won the tournament with a team score of 2-under 286.
