Minneapolis, Minn. – Virginia All-American Emily Harrison won the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational by 18 seconds over the second place finisher, helping the injury-plagued Cavaliers finish sixth as a team with 190 points. On the men’s side, Ryan Foster finished ninth and Andy Biladeau was 11th, two seconds behind Foster, to help the men take fifth, including beating No. 23 Michigan State.

Harrison, who earned All-American honors on the trails in 2006, covered the 6K race in 20:52, defeating a class field that included multiple All-Americans in the field. Lauretta Dezubay finished 14th in the top race of her collegiate career to help the women’s side. The Cavaliers’ Kara Scanlin and Katie Read did not compete in the race.

First-year Emil Heineking ran 25:00, 14 seconds behind Foster and 12 behind Biladeau, as the men, running without All-American Jan Foerster, placed four in the top 32.

The Cavaliers return to action on October 13 as Virginia travels to Terre Haute, Indiana to compete in the NCAA Pre-Nationals race.
