CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - In the opening day of the inaugural Virginia-Missouri Jefferson Dual, Mizzou jumped out to an 8-3 lead on both the men’s and women’s sides by winning the hammer throw.
Alexa Manning threw a personal-best 50.16m to collect two points for the Cavaliers. Kyle Galle also scored two points with his throw of 44.42m.
Amy Bilmanis and Eric Pickle each earned the extra point for the Cavaliers. Bilmanis threw 44.21m and Pickle recorded a mark of 36.50m.
The Cavaliers will return to the track tomorrow for the main portion of the scored dual meet. Field events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. with the women’s javelin. Running events will begin at 1:30 with the women’s steeplechase.
