• Lettered three times in basketball as a point guard for head coach Craig Brehon at Bethel High School
• Started all three seasons and averaged 13 points a game for his career
• Averaged 14.2 points, five assists and four rebounds a game while shooting 48 percent from the field and 70 percent from the free throw line his senior season in 2008-09
• Bethel finished the 2008-09 season with a 23-4 record and won the Peninsula District Championship
• Scored a career-high 33 points against Kecoughtan as a senior
• Named the Co-Peninsula District Player of the Year his senior season
• Earned first-team All-District, All-Region and honorable mention All-State honors

• Averaged 12 points, five assists and three steals a game as a junior in 2007-08 when Bethel was 30-2 and finished runner-up in the Group AAA state tournament
• Earned All-District honors as a sophomore and a junior, and second-team All-Eastern Region recognition as a junior
• Rushed for 3,687 yards and scored 55 touchdowns in three years on the Bethel football team
• Averaged 137 yards rushing per game and almost seven yards a carry
• As a senior, he had 1,165 total yards and 21 touchdowns despite missing four games with a broken bone in one of his hands
• Earned first-team All-District honors as a junior and a senior, All-Region honors as a junior and was named a Daily Press All-Star
• Played AAU basketball with Virginia teammate Tristan Spurlock
