James MacRae joined the Virginia football staff as an assistant video coordinator in 2015. He assists the Cavalier football staff with their video needs, coordinates the videotaping of practices and creates statistical reports for the coaching staff. MacRae came to Virginia after working for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2014 as a football technology assistant. He filmed practices, helped provide still photos to coaches and players during games and created statistical reports for the staff. He also assisted on special projects with the football analytics department.

MacRae graduated from Virginia in 2014 with a degree in computer engineering. He served as a football video student assistant all four years, filming practices and games. He also worked with the women’s lacrosse, women’s soccer, women’s basketball and wrestling teams. Prior to coming to Virginia, he served two summer internships with the Jaguars’ video department.

MacRae is a native of Jacksonville, Fla.
