Academic Coordinator

Butch Jefferson is an academic coordinator for the Virginia football program. He provides personal and academic counseling for student-athletes including the monitoring of NCAA eligibility and University academic guidelines.

Jefferson was an offensive lineman for the Cavaliers from 1998-2002. As an undergraduate, he served on the Atlantic Coast Conference's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was a Student-Athlete Mentor (SAM) at UVa. He was honored for his community service on several occasions and was the recipient of the ACC's Top-Six Community Service Award.

Jefferson graduated from UVa in 2002 with a degree in sociology. He received his master's degree from The Curry School of Education the following year in social foundations.

He worked as a financial adviser and financial consultant for UBS Financial Services and AXA Advisors before joining the Bedford County Office of Youth and Family Services in 2005 as a truancy prevention specialist. Prior to joining the UVa academic support staff, Jefferson worked in Lynchburg as regional director/in-home therapist for The Madeline Center's counseling program.
