Assistant Athletics Director for Ticket Office Management

Dick Mathias, Virginia's athletics ticket manager since April of 1985, is in his 27th year as an assistant athletics director.

Before joining the UVa athletics department, Mathias spent seven years as athletic ticket manager at Iowa State. Before that, he was the athletic ticket manager and assistant athletic business manager at Ohio University for six years.

A native of Athens, Ohio, Mathias earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Ohio University in June of 1970. He earned a master of education degree with a special emphasis in sports administration from Ohio University in December of 1971. While working on his master's degree, Mathias served as a graduate assistant in the Ohio University athletic business and ticket office. He also completed internships at Western Michigan University and the University of Cincinnati.

He and his wife, Jane, have three children: Matt, Mitch and Meghan.
