Bobby Mengler joined the Virginia athletics department in 2011 as strategic ticketing manager. He previously worked as the director of ticket sales and services with the Lake County Fielders baseball team of the Northern League and Chicago Sky of the WNBA. In November of 2012 he was promoted to Associate Athletics Director of Strategic Ticketing.

Mengler heads up a unit that focuses on sales and complements the athletics ticket office. In the position he focuses on sales and retention of ticket purchasers and collaborates with the marketing department to create promotions, events and benefits packages to assist in that effort. The unit's staff includes current University students with a goal of developing individuals who can be placed in full-time jobs throughout the sports industry. The staff works in all areas of ticket sales, including season tickets, single-game tickets and group sales and servicing ticket holders and the day-to-day needs of the season ticket base.

From 2005-08 Mengler worked as a season ticket account executive for the Chicago Bulls and Maloof Sports & Entertainment selling ticket packages for each of the organization's professional basketball teams, including the Chicago Bulls, Sacramento Kings and Sacramento Monarchs.

From 2008-10 Mengler managed a 12-person sales and services staff with the Chicago Sky that sold and serviced full season, mini-package, and group tickets. In 2010 he managed a seven-person sales and services, box office, and ticket operations department with the Lake County Fielders during their inaugural season in the Northern League.

Mengler is a native of Schaumburg, Ill. He graduated with a degree in sport management from Northern Illinois in 2004.
