Director of Player Development

Patrick Hickman serves as the director of player development for head coach Bronco Mendenhall's staff at Virginia. He assists with the overall development of UVA players outside of the expected football obligations including academic advising, community service, educational seminars, housing, awards and orientation. He is also the NFL liaison for the program and coordinates the summer camps programs. Hickman joined the UVA staff after working the past 10 years for the football program at BYU.

Hickman was the Cougars' director of football operations in 2015 after working as the director of player development and high school relations from 2006 to 2015. Among his various responsibilities at BYU, Hickman assisted with football operations, served as the program's liaison with high schools, junior colleges and NFL scouts, coordinated recruiting activities and directed summer football camps.

Hickman started his career in athletics administration at Boise State where he worked in game management, facility management and operations from 2002 to 2006.

Hickman earned his bachelor's degree from Boise State in health promotion in 2001 and completed work on is master's degree in athletic administration from Idaho State in 2005.

He is married to Celeste Fruean. They have two children, Jared and Maliea.
