Virginia Student-Athletes Second in ACC Honor Roll Listing

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- The University of Virginia had 246 student-athletes named to the 1996-97 Atlantic Coast Conference Honor Roll. It's the most student-athletes Virginia has had named to the ACC Honor Roll.

The 41st ACC Honor Roll, noting academic excellence by student-athletes for the 1996-97 school year, contained a record 1,541 individuals. The Honor Roll comprises those student-athletes who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a grade point average of 3.0 or better for the full academic year.

Duke had the most individuals named to the Honor Roll with 293 followed by Virginia(246), North Carolina(230), Florida State and North Carolina State(152), Clemson and Maryland(143), Wake Forest(105), and Georgia Tech(77).
