Charlottesville...UVa's fall sports are now moving toward the end of the championship portion of their seasons, while the winter sports are now under way. The year to date record is 86-32-4(72.1%).

FOOTBALL: Coach: George Welsh, 16th season at Virginia, record: 111-72-3. 1997-98 record, 6-4. Last week, UVa was idle. This week, UVa plays Virginia Tech(Sat., Nov. 29, 5:30 PM, Scott Stadium, ESPN-TV).

MEN'S SOCCER: Coach: George Gelnovatch, second season at Virginia, record: 32-6-6. 1997-98 record, 16-3-3. Last week, UVa played Howard in the NCAA Tournament(3-0 won). This week, UVa plays Georgetown in the NCAA second round( Sun., Nov. 30, 1:00 PM, Klöckner Stadium).

WOMEN'S SOCCER: Coach: April Heinrichs, second season at Virginia, record: 27-12-3. 1997-98 record, 14-5-2. Last week, UVa played William & Mary in the NCAA second round(1-0 loss). The season is complete.

FIELD HOCKEY: Coach: Melissa Sanders, fifth season at Virginia, record: 70-36. 1997-98 record, 19-3. Last week, UVa played Old Dominion(3-2 loss) in the NCAA Semifinals. The season is now complete.

VOLLEYBALL: Coach: Melissa Aldrich Shelton, third season at Virginia, record: 51-49. 1997-98 record, 18-16. Last week, UVa played Florida St. in the ACC Tournament(3-2 loss). The season is now complete.

MEN'S GOLF: Coach: Mike Moraghan, ninth season at Virginia, record: no dual meets. 1997-98, no dual matches. Last week, UVa was idle. This week, UVa is at the Mauna Kea Collegiate Invitational(Thur.-Fri., Nov. 27-28, in Honolulu).

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Coach: Jeff Jones, eighth season at Virginia, record: 137-86. 1997-98 record, 2-1. Last week, UVa played William & Mary(59-45 won)and George Mason(60-45 won). This week, UVa plays Delaware tonight and Appalachian St.(Tue., Dec. 2, 7:30 PM, University Hall).

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Coach: Debbie Ryan, 20th season at Virginia, record: 465-155. 1997-98 record, 3-0. This week, UVa played Kent St.(67-54 won) and West Virginia(59-58 won ). This week, UVa plays Virginia Tech(tonight) and VCU(Sat., Nov. 29, 2:00 PM, away).

SWIMMING: Coach: Mark Bernardino, 20th season at Virginia, record: 123-75 men, 138-57-1. 1997-98 record, 3-0 men, 2-1 women. Last week, UVa swam in the Arizona St. Invitational(women, 3rd, 4th team ). This week, UVa is idle.

WRESTLING: Coach: Lenny Bernstein, fifth season at Virginia, record: 31-28. 1997-98 record, 0-0. UVa attended the Keystone Classic(third, team). This week, UVa is idle.

INDOOR TRACK: Coach: Randy Bungard, first season at Virginia, record: no dual meets. 1997-98 record, no dual meets.
