UVA Athletics to Team with Premier Sports Marketing

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.--Premier Sports Marketing (PSM) has contracted with the University of Virginia to manage and direct the UVa athletic department's multi-media marketing plan and facets of the Athletic Capital Campaign such as athletic facility enhancement projects.

PSM develops, designs and implements innovative marketing strategies for professional and collegiate clients throughout the country. The company has successfully completed over 50 major projects for both collegiate and professional sports facilities. PSM's clients include Auburn University, Ohio State University, the University of Nebraska, the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Indiana Pacers and the Phoenix Suns.

In addition to providing its established on-premise and project management services, Premier will be charged with packaging and marketing radio, television and print advertising for the UVa athletic department. One of the initial PSM projects is to design and assist in the procurement of a new scoreboard/videoboard for The Carl Smith Center expansion project at Scott Stadium.

"At this particular juncture in the timeline of Virginia athletic history, Premier Sports Marketing is the perfect fit to integrate the various advertising and sponsorship opportunities within the department.

"Premier has superior credentials with stadium and arena enhancements such as placement of large screen videoboards and fan interactive areas within athletic facilities. Given the athletic department's aggressive commitment to the stadium expansion project and University Hall improvement efforts, Premier is the ideal organization to assist us in reaching our facility enhancement goals, improving our spectator experience and increasing our corporate support."

PSM replaces Host Communications as the University of Virginia athletic multi-media rights holder. As did Host Communications, PSM will report to the Virginia Athletic Department through the Sports Promotions and Marketing Office. PSM will have a contract with UVa athletics for four academic years, beginning with 1998-99 and continuing through 2001-2002.
