Blanda Wolfe

Assistant Recruiting Coordinator

In 2011 Blanda Wolfe joined the Cavalier program as an assistant recruiting coordinator. Wolfe comes to Virginia after spending the previous three years at the University of Richmond as the assistant director of football operations.

While at Richmond Wolfe saw the Spiders win the 2008 FCS National Championship and capture the Colonial Athletic Association title in 2009. All three of the Richmond recruiting classes he assisted with were ranked among the top five nationally for FCS schools.

A well-respected local high school coach at Varina, Wolfe served as the team's offensive coordinator from 2002 to 2007 after starting there as an assistant coach in 1996. During that time, the team won 85 percent (57-10) of its games and captured four Capital District championships.

With former Cavalier Bobby Smith on the roster, Varina won the Central Region championship in 2006 (11-2) and Wolfe was named the Touchdown Club of Richmond's Assistant Coach of the Year.

Blanda began his high school coaching career with Varina following his graduation from VCU in 1996, serving as both a basketball and football assistant coach.

With Wolfe on the coaching staff, Varina won the Capital District championship nine times in the 11-year span between 1996 and 2006, captured the Central Region Division 6 championship in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2006, and were state runners-up in 1998 and 1999.

During that time, Varina sent more than 60 players on to play college football -- and two of those former players are currently in the NFL: Michael Robinson (Seattle Seahawks) and Andre Branch (Jacksonville Jaguars). He coached former Cavalier graduate assistant coach Jonathan Lewis at Varina High School.
