CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Infielder Shelby Barbee has been named the ACC Co-Player of the Week it was announced by the league office on Tuesday (April 30) with release of the league’s weekly honors.

Barbee hit .636 for the week as she went 7-for-11 with eight RBI, three home runs and four runs scored. She upped that average to .667 in the series against Georgia Tech to help the Cavaliers win their seventh ACC series of the season.

The first baseman hit a pair of home runs in Friday’s series opener, tying the game at 2-2 in the fifth with her first home run and then tying things again at 5-5 with the two-run shot in the sixth inning. Barbee then homered again with a three-run home run in the fourth inning of Saturday’s game to cap an 11-run inning for the Cavaliers on the way to a 16-1 run-rule victory that evened the weekend series.

In the series finale, Barbee tied the game at 2-2 for the Hoos with a sac fly in the sixth inning and then gave Virginia an insurance run that proved to be the deciding run with an RBI single in the seventh of Sunday’s 4-3 win.
