Athletics Advisory Council
Committee Reporting RelationshipsThe Council reports to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Programs.
ChargeThe Athletics Advisory Council (AAC) is charged with reviewing and recommending policy regarding the Department of Athletics to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Programs, advising the Director concerning all major decisions affecting the administration of the Department, and referring to the Board of Visitors through the President, for its consideration, questions of policy deemed by the AAC to be appropriate for Board action. The Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Programs reports to the Council at each meeting concerning his/her administration of the Department and suggests to the Council for its discussion and for advisory action any questions then existing or anticipated by the Director as likely to arise prior to the next regularly scheduled meeting.
Committee StructureThe Council, appointed by the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Programs, consists of 17 faculty/staff members including the following: Representatives of: Athletics Faculty Office of the President Office of Undergraduate Admission U.Va. Alumni Association Vice President and Chief Student Affairs Officer Virginia Athletics Foundation In addition, a representative of the Faculty Senate and the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Programs serve as ex-officio members. The two student members include the President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and an at-large member.
