Blaire Bachman joined the UVA coaching staff in August 2017 as an assistant coach.
Bachman has had seven years of coaching experience at the club and college level. She helped coach the 2017 Big Ten Conference Champions, Indiana, with both programs earning top-10 finishes with the men being named the No. 7 NCAA program and the women No. 8.
In 2013-14 Bachman was named the NAIA Swimming and Diving Women’s Coach of the Year, while earning the Appalachian Swimming Conference Women’s Coach of the Year in 2012-13-14. Bachman was a four-time American Swimming Coaches Association Coach of Excellence honoree (2011-12-13-14). In 2010-11, she was named the youngest head coach in the nation.
Bachman joins the Cavalier programs after serving as the assistant swimming coach and women’s recruiting coordinator for Indiana 2016-17. Her primary responsibility was to oversee the middle distance and distance training groups. With the Hoosiers, Bachman assisted with the coaching of 2016 Olympic gold medalists Lilly King, Cody Miller and Blake Pieroni, as well as aiding the program’s 2017 World Championship and World University Games qualifiers.
Prior to Indiana, Bachman spent a year as the assistant swimming coach and women’s recruiting coordinator for Dartmouth. In addition to coaching, Bachman helped behind the seasons with fundraising efforts and recruiting visits in addition to implementing and planning training plans.
From 2010-15, Bachman was the head swim coach and aquatics director for Brenau. She helped the program fundraise over $25,000 for a timing system. During this time, Bachman administered year-round training.
Bachman started her coaching career as a camp counselor and coach for the Georgia Bulldogs Swim Club (2012-2016).
Bachman received a bachelor of arts degree in mass communication from Georgia College and State University.
