Volunteer Assistant Coach

Jake Shrum joined the Virginia swimming and diving program as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2013-14 season. Shrum has been the Albemarle High School swimming and diving head coach since 2008 and was named the 2013 Central Virginia High School Swimming Coach of the Year.

At Albemarle, both the men's and women's programs have recorded three top-12 finishes at the Virginia State Championship meet. Under Shrum's guidance, the men are three-time regional champions and five-time district champions, while the women have won a regional team championship and two district titles.

Shrum has also been an assistant coach with the Virginia Gators since 2008 and the Fairview Swim Club since 2003.

Shrum was a four-year letterwinner on the Virginia men's team and was a part of three Atlantic Coast Conference Championship squads. Shrum graduated from UVa in 2008 with a degree in computer science.
