Virginia's Caratelli and Smith Compete in Three-Meter Finals

ATHENS, Ga. - Sophomore Katie Caratelli (Westlake, Ohio) placed ninth on the three-meter springboard and freshman Ashley Smith (Charlottesville, Va.) finished 33rd for Virginia.

The two divers competed in the second day of the 1998 NCAA Zone B Championships at the University of Georgia's Gabrielsen Natatorium. Caratelli recorded a score of 469.95 in the finals, while Smith posted a 370.05. Ashley Culpepper from Louisiana State won the event with a total score of 469.95.
