Smith Named ACC Swimmer of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C.—Virginia senior Leah Smith has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Female Swimmer of the Week, the ACC announced Tuesday (Jan. 17).

Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa.) won three individual events against Virginia Tech in the final home of her career Jan. 13-14 in Charlottesville. Smith first won the 500-yard freestyle in an Aquatic and Fitness Center pool record time of 4:37.42 on Friday. She then won the 1,000 free (9:32.90) and 200 free (1:46.59) in addition to anchoring the 400 free relay.

It is Smith’s fifth ACC weekly nod of her career and second this season. The Cavaliers travel to Duke on Friday and North Carolina on Saturday.
