GREENSBORO, N.C.—Virginia freshmen swimmers Zach Bunner and Shannon Rauth have been named ACC Swimmers of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday (Feb. 18).

A native of Marietta, Ga., Bunner picked up two event wins at the Cavalier Invite Feb. 14-15, including the 200 fly and the 100 back. His time of 48.09 in the 100 back ranks as the 10th-fastest mark on UVa’s all-time list and as the eighth-fastest time in the conference this year. His time of 1:46.58 in the 200 fly ranks 11th in the ACC this year.

Rauth, a native of Glenmoore, Pa., captured the 50 and 100 free at the Cavalier Invite. Her time of 49.48 in the 100 free is the seventh-fastest time on Virginia’s all-time list and is the fifth-best mark in the ACC this year, while her 50 free time of 22.96 is the 11th-fastest time.

This is the Cavaliers’ fifth consecutive ACC Female Swimmer of the Week honor and the program’s eighth weekly award overall. Fellow freshman Leah Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was honored as the female swimmer of the week Jan. 21 and Feb. 11, sophomore Courtney Bartholomew (Holland, Mich.) was recognized Feb. 4 and in the fall and junior Ellen Williamson (Ft. Mitchell, Ky.) was selected Jan. 28. Junior JB Kolod (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was honored as ACC Male Diver of the Week last week.

Next up for the Cavaliers will be the ACC Championships, which will be held in Greensboro, N.C. The women’s meet, along with men’s diving, will be held Feb. 19-22, while the men’s swimming meet is the following week Feb. 26-March 1.
