GREENSBORO, N.C.--Thirteen members of the Virginia men's and women's swimming and diving teams have been named to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Academic squads, the conference announced Monday (April 15).
Senior Lauren Perdue, junior Emily Lloyd, sophomores Shaun Casey, Emily Dicus, Alison Haulsee and Kelly Offutt and freshman Haley Durmer were honored on the women's squad, while juniors Jonathan Buerger, Taylor Grey and Jack Murfee, sophomores David Ingraham and JB Kolod and freshman Luke Papendick were recognized on the men's team.
"We're honored and pleased to have 13 members recognized on the ACC All-Academic teams," UVa head coach Mark Bernardino said. "This honor is a testimony to the hard work they put forth in the classroom and their equally outstanding effort in the pool at this University."
All 13 Cavaliers honored competed at the NCAA Championships. Buerger, Dicus, Haulsee, Kolod, Lloyd, Papendick and Perdue earned honorable mention All-America honors.
Grey (men's 200 breast), Offutt (women's 500 free and 1,650 free) and Perdue (women's 200 free) all won individual ACC titles, while Ingraham (men's 800 free relay) and Perdue (women's 800 free relay) were a part of conference champion relays. Casey, Grey, Haulsee, Ingraham, Kolod, Murfee, Offutt, Papendick and Perdue were All-ACC performers.
Grey, Lloyd and Perdue, the Women's ACC Championships' Most Outstanding Swimmer, were honored on the ACC All-Academic team for the third time, while Casey, Dicus, Haulsee, Ingraham, Kolod and Offutt were listed for the second time.
Both the men's and women's programs won their sixth consecutive ACC Championships in 2013.
