CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—Six members of the Virginia swimming and diving program will compete at the USA Swimming U.S. Open Aug. 7-11 at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis. Rising senior Nathan Vredeveld (Chattanooga, Tenn.), juniors Parker Camp (Brentwood, Tenn.) and Jan Daniec (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and sophomores Alison Haulsee (Glen Allen, Va.), Sarah White (Norfolk, Va.) and Ellen Williamson (Ft. Mitchell, Ky.) will all vie for spots on the American squad for the 2013 World University Games, which will be held in Kazan, Russia, July 6-17, 2013.
The morning session with heats will begin each day at 9:00 a.m., while the finals in evening are scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. USASwimming.org will have a live webcast of all sessions as well as live results.
The top finisher in each event will automatically make the U.S. team. In addition, the second, third and fourth-place qualifiers in the 100- and 200-meter freestyle will be added to the squad. The second-place finishers in all other events will be added to the squad according to the world rankings until the team is full (26 swimmers per gender).
