The Cavalier women posted their highest NCAA finish in program history in 2014-15, placing fifth at the NCAA Championships. Junior Leah Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa.) won a pair of national titles in the 500 free and 1,650 free, while Virginia had four second-place finishes, including the 400 medley relay, senior Courtney Bartholomew (Holland, Mich.) in the 100 back and 200 back and junior Laura Simon (Simmern, Germany) in the 200 breast.

UVA won its eighth-consecutive ACC Championship and finished 3-2 during the dual meet season. With a win against the Volunteers, the Virginia women would pick up their 300th dual meet victory in program history.

The Cavalier men placed eighth at the ACC Championships and 33rd at the NCAA Championships in 2014-15. UVA’s top returner is senior Yannick Kaeser (Mumpf, Switzerland), who holds both school breaststroke records and set two new Swiss national records (100m breast and 200m breast) at the FINA World Championships in August.

Last year, the Tennessee men finished fourth at the SEC Championships and 14th at the NCAA championships. The UT women were fourth at SECs and 11th at NCAAs. The Volunteers competed at Missouri Thursday afternoon (Oct. 15), with the women winning by a score of 164-136 and the men picking up a 176-124 win.

Next up, the Cavaliers will travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., to face Michigan and Penn State Oct. 31-Nov. 1.
