Vannoy and Rose Earn Season-Best Marks at Spec Towns Invite

ATHENS, Ga. - Sophomores Dallas Rose and Emily Vannoy led the Virginia track and field team Friday afternoon on the opening day of the Spec Towns Invitational. Rose started the day with a sixth-place finish in the triple jump, leaping a season-best 40' 7.5", while Vannoy led the team with a third-place finish in the shot put. Vannoy threw a season-best 49' 3.5".
 
Junior Maureen Laffan joined Vannoy in the shot put, while also competing in the hammer throw. Laffan finished seventh in the shot put with a mark of 47' 11", while she threw 158' 2" in the hammer. Classmate Erin Wykoff hit a mark of 162' 2" in the hammer.
 
On the men's side, junior Vincenzo Chiariello finished seventh in the hammer throw with a throw of 191' 7".
 
Virginia will return to action tomorrow at both the George Mason Invitational and the Spec Towns Invitational.
