CHARLOTTESVILLE - Virginia athletes will display Virginia Tech logos on their uniforms or equipment during competition this weekend to honor and remember those individuals who lost their lives or were injured earlier this week.

"This is a way for us to pay tribute to the victims at Virginia Tech," said Virginia Athletics Director Craig Littlepage. "It is also a way to show support for their families and the Virginia Tech student body, faculty, staff and alumni."

The Atlantic Coast Conference is paying special recognition to Virginia Tech at its spring championships. The recognition includes a moment of silence prior to the start of the opening day of championship competition, specially designed signage and black wristbands provided to all competitors.

Virginia and Virginia Tech are scheduled to compete in ACC Championships this weekend in men's golf, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's track and field. UVa and Virginia Tech golfers are paired together in the opening round of the ACC Tournament on Friday (April 20).

The Virginia women's rowing team is competing in the ACC Championship Regatta on Saturday (April 21).

The Virginia men's lacrosse team hosts Dartmouth at Klöckner Stadium on Saturday and a moment of silence will be observed prior to the start of that game. A period of reflection was held prior to the Virginia-Richmond baseball game at Davenport Field on Tuesday night (April 17) and there was a moment of silence before the Virginia-Longwood softball doubleheader at The Park on Wednesday (April 18).
