The Extra Mile with Samantha Stafford


Virginia second year Samantha Stafford, who ran locally at Western Albemarle High School, has run in the top seven all season for the Cavaliers. A veteran of the Panorama Farms course, Stafford has scored for Virginia at ACCs in both of her seasons on the team.

Years of competitive running: Seven years

My favorite place to run: Rivanna Trail

Most memorable race: Cross Country ACC’s my first year (2005) because it was at Panorama and I was able to score for the team.

Race you would like to run: Pike’s Peak marathon

My favorite Olympic event: bobsledding

My favorite book: I can’t choose just one

My favorite pre-race meal: Spaghetti and chicken

If I didn’t run, I would be: Playing soccer

Favorite place at UVa: Right now it is a bench under a big tree to left of the Rotunda

When I don’t run, I: Walk
