BLACKSBURG, Va.—The Virginia women’s track and field team finished action Saturday (Feb. 6) at the Doc Hale Elite Meet in Blacksburg, Va.

Senior Peyton Chaney (Belleville, Ill.) finished fifth in the invitational 200 meters with a PR of 24.01 that ranks third on UVA’s all-time list.

“Peyton had confirmation this weekend that when you correctly execute in competition what you have been working on in practice, great things occur,” UVA director of track and field/cross country Bryan Fetzer said. “That is something that all our student-athletes can learn from.”

Junior Christine Bohan (Avon Lake, Ohio) finished fourth in the shot put with a season-best throw of 15.99m (52’ 6.5”).

In the open 200 meters, junior Tori McKenzie (Chatham, Va.) placed 20th in a time of 25.01.

In the pole vault, sophomore Bridget Guy (Greensburg, Pa.) placed sixth with a mark of 3.95m (12’ 11.5”).

“We continue to move forward in the right direction, using every opportunity for learning and correcting,” Fetzer said. “We finished up the weekend on a positive note. I’m so excited to have the entire team back together in New York next Friday.”

The Cavaliers return to action Friday (Feb. 12) for the Fastrack National Qualifier Invite in Staten Island, N.Y.
