Clemson, S.C. - Senior Holly Sullivan (Chester Springs, Pa.) got the Virginia women's team off to a solid start at the 2018 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships at Clemson. She recorded a personal best score of 3,912 points to place fourth in the pentathlon during the first day of competition. Her performance earned UVA five points in the team competition which placed the Cavaliers in a tie for seventh after the opening day.

Sullivan posted three personal best performances during her five events to earn second-team All-ACC honors.

After opening the day with a career-best time of 8.99 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, she positioned herself for a high finish by tying for first in the high jump with a PR of 1.69 meters. Sullivan came out of the shot put (9.44m) competition in seventh place and moved up two spots in the standings thanks to a career-best long jump of 5.76m.

In her final event, Sullivan was third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:15.32.

"I could not be more excited for her, said Bryan Fetzer, UVA's director of track and field. "She had an amazing indoor season. You can always look back on a combined event and pick it apart of what could have been, as I know she will do, but it's her third pentathlon of the season and she improved each one, which is not normal. She saved the best for last."

Sullivan was seventh at last year's ACC Indoor Championship and finished 13th as a sophomore. Her previous best score in the pentathlon was 3,789 points. Her score from Thursday's competition moved her up to third on UVA's all-time list for the event.

The three-day championship runs through Saturday with events starting at 10:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. ACC Network Extra will broadcast events on Friday beginning at 3:30 p.m. and on Saturday beginning at noon. Links to the broadcast and to live results are available on
