GAINESVILLE, Fla.—A runner-up finish in the distance medley relay highlighted the UVA women’s track and field team’s final day at the Florida Relays Saturday (April 2) at Pressly Stadium in Gainesville, Fla.

The distance medley relay of freshman Alexia Roux (Le Mont-sur-Lausanne, Switzerland), graduate student Aisha Naibe-Wey (London, England), sophomore Caroline Clark (Washington, D.C.) and graduate student Sarah Astin (Isle of Man, Great Britain) placed second in 11:23.70.

Junior Christine Bohan (Avon Lake, Ohio) finished fifth in the shot put invite with a throw of 16.41m (53’ 10.25”).

The 4x200-meter relay of senior Peyton Chaney (Belleville, Ill.), junior Andrea Wright (Chesapeake, Va.), sophomore Kiana Hairston (Manassas, Va.) and junior Tori McKenzie (Chatham, Va.) finished sixth in 1:36.68.

Redshirt-freshman Mia Barron (Minnetonka, Minn.) placed 18th in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 12.02m (39’ 5.25”).

“We gained a lot of confidence this weekend as well as some points of correction,” UVA director of track and field/cross country Bryan Fetzer said. “March doesn’t matter, May does. It’s all part of the process to building to that point. We can’t wait to get back home to Lannigan Field next weekend on our home track and in front of our home crowd.”

Next up, the Cavaliers will host two meets at Lannigan Field with the UVA Quad against Columbia, Maryland and Penn on Friday, April 8 at 6 p.m. and the Lou Onesty/Milton G Abramson Invitational on Saturday, April 9 at 2 p.m. Admission to both meets is free to the public.
