In the 1500m finals, Marsella ran a time of 3:52.39 to finish 11th in the event. He captured his first outdoor All-American honor, concluding his college career as a two-time All-American after earning the accolade with the men's indoor distance medley relay in 2015.

Virginia concluded the men’s NCAA Outdoor Championships in 55th place in the team standings with three points. Georgia claimed the national title, snapping a two-year run by Florida. The Bulldogs finished with 52 points. Florida placed second in the team standings with 42 points, while Houston finished third with 35 points.

In addition to tonight’s performance, the Cavaliers captured one first-team All-America honor from redshirt junior Oghenakpobo Efekoro (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and two second-team honors from junior Hilmar Jonsson (Reykjavik, Iceland) and freshman Alfred Shirley III (Chesapeake, Va.).

Virginia will conclude its time in Eugene tomorrow with junior Kelly McKee (Lenexa, Kan.) competing in the women’s triple jump.
