CHARLOTTESVILLE - The Virginia men's and women's track & field teams will begin their 2014 indoor season Saturday as they compete at the Orange & Purple Classic on the campus of Clemson University. Field events will begin at the Clemson Indoor Track & Field Complex at 11 a.m., with running events starting at 1 p.m.

Athletes from seven schools will be competing at the meet, which is being held at the same facility that will host this year's ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships. Joining the Cavaliers and host Tigers will be athletes from Anderson, East Tennessee State, Georgia Tech, UNC Asheville and South Carolina State.

The Cavaliers will take young squad to Clemson, as over half of the 40 athletes will be competing in their first indoor meet for the Cavaliers. Among the veterans in action on Saturday are 2013 All-ACC Indoor performers Jordan Lavender (Nashville, Tenn.) and Ryan Satchell(Central Islip, N.Y.).

Virginia will return to action next Friday (Jan. 17) with the Dick Taylor Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.
