NEW ORLEANS, La.-Virginia All-American Robby Andrews (Englishtown, N.J.) has been named to the Bowerman 2012 Men's Preseason Watch List, as announced Wednesday by the Bowerman Men's Watch Committee and the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). This is the second-straight year Andrews has been named as one of 10 student-athletes on the watch list for collegiate track and field's top honor.

Following up his debut 2010 campaign where he won the 2010 NCAA indoor 800-meter run title, Andrews finished 2011 on a high note, when he out-kicked UC Irvine's Charles Jock to win the outdoor 800m for his second NCAA crown. It was his third All-America nod, after finishing second in the 800m at the 2010 outdoor national meet.

In addition, Andrews anchored the Cavalier 4x800-meter relay team to its second-consecutive Penn Relays Championship of America title and was named the Penn Relays Athlete of the Meet for Relay Events.

The Bowerman, which debuted in 2009, is presented annually by the USTFCCCA to the most outstanding male and female collegiate track & field athletes in the nation.

Florida State's Ngoni Makusha and Texas A&M's Jessica Beard are the reigning winners of The Bowerman, which is named for legendary Oregon track & field and cross country coach Bill Bowerman.

Bowerman served the sport of track and field in numerous ways. His leadership in the USTFCCCA's predecessor organization, the National Collegiate Track Coaches Association, and his contributions to NCAA track and field and the running community as a whole are among his many lasting legacies.
