Eight Cavaliers Named to All-ACC Academic Teams

Cleo Boyd was honored for the second time.

GREENSBORO, N.C.--Eight student-athletes from the Virginia men's and women's cross country teams were named to the All-ACC Cross Country Academic Teams, the conference announced Thursday (Feb. 11).

Graduate student Iona Lake (Norwich, England), juniors Cleo Boyd (Kingston, Ontario) and Sarah Fakler (Phoenix, Ariz.), sophomore Megan Rebholz (Stafford, Va.) and freshman Emily Mulhern (Ijamsville, Md.) of the ACC champion women's team were recognized. Senior Adam Visokay (Ruckersville, Va.), junior Thomas Madden (Front Royal, Va.) and sophomore Chase Weaverling (Darnestown, Md.) of the men's team were honored.

Boyd, Lake, Mulhern and Weaverling were all named to the All-ACC and All-Southeast Region teams, while Madden and Rebholz were recognized on the All-Southeast Region squads.

Boyd, Fakler and Lake were honored on the 2014 All-ACC Cross Country Academic Team, while Madden was recognized during the 2015 indoor season and Visokay was honored during the 2014 outdoor season. Mulhern, Rebholz and Weaverling earned their first-career All-ACC Academic nods.


 

 

The Virginia women won their first ACC Championship since 1982, were NCAA Southeast Regional champions and had the highest cumulative GPA among Virginia women's teams during the Fall 2015 semester.

The Cavalier men placed third at the ACC Championships and second at the NCAA Southeast Regional.
