CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—The Virginia men’s and women’s track and field teams open the ACC Indoor Championships Thursday (Feb. 25) at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston.

The meet runs through Saturday (Feb. 27). Action begins at 11 a.m. each day. ESPN3 will have a live broadcast of the action Friday from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday 1-4 p.m. Live results will be available at

The Virginia men are ranked No. 23 in the latest USTFCCCA poll and is joined by fellow ACC schools, No. 11 Virginia Tech, No. 14 Syracuse and No. 18 NC State. On the women’s side, four ACC schools are ranked, including No. 9 NC State, No. 13 Notre Dame, No. 16 Duke and No. 18 Miami.

At last year’s meet the men’s distance medley relay, including returning juniors Henry Wynne (Westport, Conn.) and Mike Marsella (Hope Valley, R.I.), captured the ACC title, while redshirt sophomore Filip Mihaljevic (Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina) won the women’s shot put and junior Jordan Young (Windsor, Ontario) captured the men’s weight throw. Junior Christine Bohan (Avon Lake, Ohio) earned All-ACC honors in the women’s shot put.

The first day of action gets started with the heptathlon and pentathlon, the weight throws and the distance medley relays.

The meet will also signify the men’s and women’s track and field matchups between Virginia and Virginia Tech in the Commonwealth Clash, sponsored by Virginia529, the official college savings plan of University of Virginia Athletics. There are two points at stake in the Virginia529 Commonwealth Clash, the point rivalry series between UVA and Virginia Tech. The school that finishes higher in the meet on the men’s side will receive a point in the competition, as will the school that finishes higher on the women’s side. Virginia leads the 2015-16 Commonwealth Clash, 5-3.5. Learn more about Virginia529 and this competition at
