BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia men's track and field team continued competition Friday at the 2015 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships at Rector Field House. The Cavaliers had several athletes advance to event finals, including two in the mile, to highlight the day.

"The men continue to get it done," said head coach Bryan Fetzer. "They put us in position where tomorrow we can accomplish what we want to accomplish in this meet. You have to be in it to have that opportunity and we gave ourselves that chance with our performance today."

Virginia is in sixth place after six events with 21 points. Florida State is the day two leader with 30.5 points as the top seven teams are separated by just 10.5 points.

Virginia had two athletes advance to the final in the mile as Mike Marsella (Hope Valley, R.I.) had the third-best overall time of the prelims at 4:03.68 and Henry Wynne (Westport, Conn.) had the eighth-best time at 4:07.75.

Payton Hazzard (Huntington, N.Y.) advanced to the final of the 400m with a time of 47.48, the fourth best time in the prelims. Nathan Kiley (Chantilly, Va.) automatically qualified for the final in the 800m by winning his preliminary heat in 1:51.52.

The heptathlon competition concluded Friday with three Cavaliers in action. Anthony Dunavant (Franklin, Tenn.) finished eighth with 4,905 points to score a point for Virginia. Christian Lavorgna (Jefferson, N.J.) was ninth in a time of 4,893 points. Cam Collins (Calhoun, Ga.) was 12th with a score of 4,793 points, the second-highest freshman score in UVa history.

The meet concludes Saturday with field events (shot put, men's pole vault, triple jump) starting at 10 a.m. and running events (finals of the 60m, 200m, 400m, 800m, mile, 3000m and the 4x400m relay) starting at noon. Live coverage of Saturday's events begins at noon on ESPN3.
