NEW ORLEANS, La. - The University of Virginia men's track team had six players earn All-America accolades this week from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The program set school records with six honorees and five first-team selections.

Jordan Young (Windsor, Ontario) earned first-team All-America honors in the weight throw with a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships. It is the second honor of his career, having been a second-team All-American in the weight throw last year while at Arizona. He is the first UVa athlete to be an All-American in the weight throw.

The men's distance medley relay of Henry Wynne (Westport, Conn.), Payton Hazzard (Huntington, N.Y.), Nathan Kiley (Chantilly, Va.) and Mike Marsella (Hope Valley, R.I.) earned first-team All-America honors after a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships. It was the highest finish for the DMR since a sixth-place finish in 2009. The honor was the second for Hazzard, who earned second-team All-America honors on Virginia's 2013 DMR. For Wynne, Kiley and Marsella, the honor is the first of their career.

Filip Mihaljevic (Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina) earned second-team honors in the shot put with his 14th-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships. It is the third All-America selection of his career, having been a first-team All-American outdoors last season in the shot put and discus.

The Cavaliers open the outdoor season on Saturday as they host the Virginia Cup. Field events begin at noon and track events begin at 2 p.m. at Lannigan Field and admission is free.
