CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Virginia men's and women's track and field teams will host the sixth annual Virginia Challenge at Lannigan Field this weekend (April 21-22). The two-day event will begin on Friday at 11 a.m., and 9 a.m., on Saturday.

Live results will be available at VirginiaSports.com. Friday night's competition will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra, starting at 7 p.m.

In a competitive field, Virginia will host over 50 schools and 1,100 student-athletes. The No. 5 Cavalier men will face four ranked programs, competing against No. 1 Florida, No. 2 Georgia, No. 7 Virginia Tech and No. 9 Tennessee, according to the most recent rankings from Dyestat.

The women's competition will feature No. 2 Georgia and No. 8 Florida.

The men's team enters the weekend with recent dual competition wins over Maryland, Columbia and Penn on April 8. At the meet, the Cavaliers notched the country's top shot put distance with a 20.39m (66-10.75) effort from redshirt sophomore Oghenakpobo Efekoro (Brooklyn, N.Y.). He currently ranks second nationally in the event. The women's team defeated Maryland and Columbia at the meet.

In addition to Efekoro, senior Henry Wynne (Westport, Conn.), senior Zach Herriott (Kansas City, Mo.), sophomore Hilmar Jonsson (Reykjavik, Iceland) and freshman Jordan Scott (Portmore, Jamaica) rank in the top 10 nationally. Wynne, Herriott, and Jonsson hold mirroring eighth-place rankings, securing the placement in the 5,000 meters, 10,000 meters and the hammer throw, respectively. Scott's triple jump is the 10th best this season.
