April 29, 2015

CHARLOTTESVILLE - The Virginia men's and women's track and field teams had four athletes honored by the ACC Wednesday as the conference announced the 2015 All-ACC Academic Indoor Track and Field Teams. The Cavaliers had three men and one woman recognized for succeeding both academically and athletically.

To be eligible for All-ACC Academic Team consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during their academic career.

Senior Ryan Satchell (Central Islip, N.Y.) was named to the men's team for the second time in his career, having also been honored in 2013. The reigning outdoor ACC Champion in the triple jump, he finished sixth in the event at the 2015 ACC Indoor Championships. He holds the seventh-best indoor mark in the triple jump in school history at 51-3.

Redshirt-freshman Filip Mihaljevic (Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina) was honored during his first indoor season at Virginia. The 2015 ACC Indoor Champion in the shot put, he set the school record with a mark of 64-5 and earned second-team All-America honors with a 14th-place finish in the event at the 2015 NCAA Indoor Championships.

Redshirt-freshman Thomas Madden (Front Royal, Va.) earned his first All-ACC Academic Team selection after finishing ninth in the 5000m at the ACC Indoor Championships. Madden's season-best time of 13:57.01 in the 5000m was a UVa freshman record and ranks second overall in school history.

Sophomore Christine Bohan (Avon Lake, Ohio) was selected to the team for the first time in her career. She earned All-ACC honors with a second-place finish in the women's shot put at the 2015 ACC Indoor Championships. Bohan's season-best mark of 52-10.75 in the shot put ranks second in school history.

The Cavaliers will return to action on May 8 with the Virginia Grand Prix. It is the final home meet of the year at Lannigan Field.
