Mihaljevic Named USTFCCCA Southeast Region Field Athlete of the Year

 -  Virginia track and field redshirt junior Filip Mihaljevic (Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina) has been named the Southeast Region Men's Field Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, as announced Sunday (June 4).

Mihaljevic ranks second in the nation in the shot put with a mark of 20.52m (67-4) and 10th in the discus with a mark of 60.69m (199-1). He qualified for the NCAA Championships in both events after finishing in the top 12 at the NCAA East Regional Preliminary Rounds. 

For the second consecutive year, Mihaljevic was honored as the ACC Championships Men's Field MVP. He placed first in the shot put with a championship record and first in the discus, recording his 10th ACC title.   

Award winners are determined by USTFCCCA member coaches. Mihaljevic will compete at the NCAA Championships in the shot put and the discus (June 7-9).
