CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –   The No. 9 Virginia men’s and Cavalier women’s track and field teams will compete for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., at Hayward Field on June 7-10.

Live stats and live video will be available through links at VirginiaSports.com. Online broadcasts of the championships will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. on Thursday and 3:30 p.m. on Friday through ESPN 3. Television broadcasts will start on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. on ESPNU and 8:30 p.m. on ESPN2, on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN2 and on Friday at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN.  

The Cavaliers have seven student-athletes, six men and one woman, competing at the NCAA Championships. On Wednesday, redshirt sophomore Jack Lint (Westerville, Ohio- seeded 23rd) will compete in the decathlon beginning at 3:30 p.m., followed by sophomore Hilmar Jonsson (Reykjavik, Iceland- seeded third) and senior Jordan Young (Windsor, Ont.- seeded 11th) in the men’s hammer at 5 p.m. Redshirt junior Filip Mihaljevic (Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina- seeded sixth) and redshirt sophomore Oghenakpobo Efekoro (Brooklyn, N.Y. – seeded 20th) compete in the shot put at 9:40 p.m. All times are Eastern. 

On Thursday, Lint will conclude the combined events with competition beginning at 1:30 p.m. Senior Christine Bohan (Avon Lake, Ohio – seeded 16th) will represent the women’s team in the shot put at 9:40 p.m.

UVA will close the meet on Friday with Young (seeded third) and Mihaljevic (seeded 10th) in the discus at 8:05 p.m. Freshman Jordan Scott (Portmore, Jamaica- seeded 12th) competes in the triple jump at 8:40 p.m.

UVA enters the NCAA Championships with five performances ranked in the top 10 nationally. Mihaljevic and Efekoro rank second and third, respectively, in the shot put. In the triple jump, Scott holds the fourth-best national mark. Both Jonsson’s hammer throw and Mihaljevic’s discus performance rank 10th in the nation. 

At last year’s NCAA Championships, Mihaljevic, Young and Efekoro earned All-America honors. Mihaljevic finished as the NCAA Champion in the shot put, earning the school’s first field national title. He finished fifth in the discus for first-team All-America honors in both events. Young placed 12th in the discus and Efekoro placed 11th in the shot put to earn second-team honors.

The men’s team recorded a program-best finish of seventh place.
