CHARLOTTESVILLE - The Virginia cross country teams announced their 2015 schedules Friday (June 26). The Cavaliers will host three meets at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, including the NCAA Southeast Region Championships.

“Our schedule has not changed much over the last few years," said director of track and field/cross country Bryan Fetzer. "It allows us the best opportunity to have success during the championship portion of the year by staying close to home for the majority of the season but going head-to-head with the nation’s best programs."

The men’s and women’s programs open the season with a pair of home meets. The teams debut on Sept. 2 with the UVa Duals as the Cavaliers host James Madison, Norfolk State and Radford.

The Cavaliers return to Panorama Farms on Sept. 26 to host the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational. The meet will once again feature an elite field, as Auburn, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Coastal Carolina, Bowling Green, Furman, Liberty and High Point are among the schools joining Virginia at the meet. The event will also expand this season to include a race for Division II and III schools following the Division I race.

“The Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational continues to develop and be one of the best meets in the country,” said Fetzer. “Every opportunity we have to host, we try make it a first class meet. Charlottesville and Albermale County is an amazing running community and these meets are a great way to showcase that.”

The regular season concludes on October 16 as both teams travel to Madison, Wis., for the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational. The postseason begins on October 30 with the ACC Championships, hosted by Florida State in Tallahassee, Fla.

For the second time in three years, Virginia will host the NCAA Southeast Region Championships at Panorama Farms. The meet is scheduled for Nov. 13 and is one of nine regional meets to determine the field for the NCAA Championships. The NCAA Championships will be held Nov. 21 in Louisville, Ky.

"The opportunity to host the NCAA Southeast Region Championships for the next three years is a blessing for our program and the community,” said Fetzer. “We are fortunate to have one of the nation’s finest cross country courses and we will do everything we can to provide an environment that all of the competitors will enjoy. Our community and fan support has been impressive and we expect more huge crowds at Panorama Farms."

Admission for all home Virginia cross country meets is free.
